Two questions on Author sort and the suffix Jr

1) If I add the suffix Jr with a comma to the author, eg Sam Merwin, Jr then the Author sort entry remains the same as Author. I am guessing that this is because the 'Author sort name algorithm' tweak is set to the default 'comma'. Am I correct?

2) If I add Jr without a comma, eg Sam Merwin Jr, then the Author sort becomes Merwin, Sam Jr, rather than the Merwin Jr, Sam that I would like. To get this format I have to manually change the Author sort entry in Manage authors. I have to do this for all names with the Jr suffix. Although do-able without exorbitant effort it would be nice if I could set up this Author sort format, ie LastName Jr, FirstName as the default. Is this possible?

I don't believe it is. Manage Authors really is the only way to deal with an author sort value that breaks calibre's expectations like that.

There is a Tweak for those type of names, But I don't think changing it will do what you want

Thanks for the replies. I'd say that the problem is that Calibre is just so good that some of us expect miracles!

Now that I've done the not so hard job of adjusting the Jr's in my book list, sorting out any future cases as they arise will be no hardship.
