do M96 and M97 derivatives have stronger screens?

I have used the Boox M92 with very much pleasure for the past 3 years, but the screen broke within the first year and I had it replaced at a hefty cost of about 200 euros + shipping. Now just yesterday the screen gave up on me again, going blank and remaining blank. I am considering to just buy a more recent edition of the Boox, like N96, but am worried the screen might still be every bit as vulnerable as it was with the M92. It's all the more alarming that the warranty specifically excludes 'broken screens' except when upon arrival.

Can anyone confirm this or reassure me that the M96 or N96 is better protected? Much though I love the Boox, it cannot be called a good product until the screen protection is as good as that of an iPad. I need to feel safe to stick it into my bag when I go out.

The M96 is fine.

E-ink screens are generally very delicate to handle. Don't use your E-Reader without protection. And don't put very hard stuff in your bag, too.

Thin glass substrate below e-ink layer is easily broken by twisting of the reader or pressure on the screen. Most covers offer very little protection. I once put my Sony T1 in a Kobo cover that had no give in corner cover retainers. Was a tight fit and T2 back tapers towards front at corners. This pulled IR touch a little out of alignment giving page turn problems lucky without permanent damage. My first Kobo I broke it's screen with too much arm pressure while it rested on sports car center console between seats. Never happened again with or without cover because always aware of how delicate ereader are. Covers are not rigid enough to do much to prevent screen damage. Flexible screens should will be better. Rigid case for travel in suit cases or backpacks offer best protection. Pelican case or wood case.

Thanks for your feedback, guys. I did not know about Pelican cases and am very grateful for the tip. Presumably this model will be the right size for Boox M96 or N96:

I suggested Pelican Cases because extensive variety, rugged protection and reliable google search results. They are very good but not cheap. Have used Pelican Cases sense they were first sold in 1970s and many other brands as USN combat photographer. Water proof?, Only if no grains of sand is on rubber seal. My local Walmart sells Attwood cases that can hold a smart phone or 7" tablet that resembles a Pelican case. Web search is more likely to show many other Attwood boating accessories. One of Attwood's water proof cases resembles cheap version of a US military ammo box. Once found steel ammo box full of lead weights under a pier in 30ft of water still dry inside.

I have been using the M96 daily for nearly a year now and I definitely cannot see it breaking from normal use. Also no such posts on the web, which is more than you can say for the M92.
I also recall reading something by Booxtor that the M96 frame was strengthened compared to the M92.
That said, I recently replaced the bendy factory cover with a more rigid universal leather cover - and I am not buying another e-reader unless it has a flexible screen.

What a crap device M92! Mine has broken its screen itself, without aid... Now I have seen from your post that changing the screen is a bad business. Thanks.

Aside, anyone knows how old is M96 or N96? Which was their release date?
