Paperless

Well, almost paperless. I occasionally have to read a physical book. I'm recently retired from the service, and attend the local community college enrolled in their xray tech program.

I am obsessed with reading, and I'm an information junkie. Most of my consumption is in audio format, but I have been reading books on electronic devices since the Sony Clie was available for under $200. I have used computers (of course) and PDAs, and currently use the N800 and Sony 505. When I can get an e-ink device with an adequate screen that will access the Internet using 802.11g wireless, I will buy it.

It has been a long time since I've read a physical book. Even at school, they have given out as a trial our books on disc, so I use my laptop in class, and to do most of my studying. I signed up to help myself keep abreast of the ebook news, so I'll know the minute I can get my hands on that dream device.

Yes, I've seen them, they are expensive. I forked over close to $2k for my Gateway convertible when I started school, and couldn't justify the expense of another gadget. I guess I could rationalize it if I were to use it in class, but I like having full pc capabilities. The new Mentor from Astak looks promising, but the big one won't be available for months yet.
