Thanks for this info. I've used the instructions from here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=255435 and finally upgraded the firmware. I got tired of waiting for the ArtaTech update. They've been silent since September. With the international firmware most of the stuff is working well. Comparing to the ArtaTech Build 041be89 Firmware: - You can finally use a custom StarDict and check up words with the book opened. - The highlighting and scribbling in NeoReader is way more comfortable and precise + everything can be exported! - On the whole NeoReader feels less buggy, though it could still use a few tweaks in the controls deprartment. - You really can change the screensaver/off-mode images with a couple of clicks. - the device feels faster... or maybe I'm just finally satisfied with it. Not sure about battery life. It was already perfect in the ArtaTech version, so I hope nothing changed in this department. One thing I did notice is that the power-level indicator seems to be more precise (but still not great). One thing changed for the worse. The Google Play store doesn't allow me to install the dropbox app saying it's incompatible with my device. Anyone experiencing similar problems? Of course the ArtaTech version had better TTS, but I don't need it anyway. I highly recommend this update if you're tired of waiting for AT. |

The only way I was able to do it was saving the update to an SD, entered the revocery mode and updated it from SD.
Unfortunately I found it very unstable and rolled back to the Booxtor's version from 2014-10-13 |

As you see in the previous message, you must follow the steps of this thread Move your M96 to Booxtor's firmwares and/or Unbrick and Rooting Method
After this, put the update.zip in a SD, and update it from System optioms -> About -> update firmware from SD |

Ok, I noticed one annoying bug in Neoreader when handling pdfs. Here's how it looks step by step:
1. Open the menu bar; 2. Choose some option e.g. crop page, embolden or simply close the menu bar; 3. Now the menu bar cannot be opened again and the d-pad does not respond unless I enter scribble mode (there's a new short-cut for that - tapping the centre of the screen) and scribble some random stuff. 4, Scribbling random stuff opens the scribble bar. 5. Close the scribble bar - now the menu bar can be opened, and the d-pad works properly again. This does not happen if you reflow the pdf beforehand. It's not a big deal, but might be annoying when you want to crop the pdf and embolden the text immediately before reading (as I usually do). On the positive side, battery life seems to be ok. |
