Search results are showing up differently

Hello Again

I'm having an issue with how the results of searches are being displayed. The 'change' in appearance happened yesterday.

Up until yesterday if I did any type of search (title, tag, author, etc.) the results would be shown and only those results would appear on the screen - no other books would be on the list.

Now when I do a search, my entire library still appears (6,387 books) and those that match my search criteria are highlighted in green. I have to scroll through all 6,000+ books to find the highlighed books, which aren't even grouped together.

It's possible I did something unintentionally. I upgraded to the latest version today in hopes it would undo the problem, but it didn't help.

Can someone help me correct this?

The view search results mode got left toggled :

1) you used the find duplicates PI

2) Preferences got glitched
3)or you already had the toggle button showing and clicked it

To reset:
Preferences: Searching:
remove the tick from Highlight

Option: Tick the SHOW quick toggle button (at the end of the search term area)

I have Calibre processing something at the moment so I can't check, but I'm pretty sure if you look under Preferences=>Search(es/ing?) that you'll find a checkbox which regulates whether Calibre limits to or just highlights the search results.

I typically keep this set so that Calibre does not show the quick toggle button. This way I don't accidentally switch it and drive myself nuts trying to figure out what happened.

It's a Sticky: Search is showing all books with some highlighted! How do I fix this?

Thank you all so much - that solved my problem. It's amazing how something so simply can drive me CRAZY (and i'm sure i'm not alone ☻)
