Newcomer Alert!!

Hi, I'm new here, and bought my wife a $49 K4NT for mother's day.

Having some difficulty because we're new to "devices" in general.

For today, can someone point me to the info on how to get a book from my Kindle-on-PC over to Kindle- 4NT- device, Please?

It's a book from the Mobipocket-Guide that's in my Kindle-on-PC.

I can get my Library books to Amazon and then to my Device, but I can't seem to sync the Kindle-on-PC to my Device.

TY, very much, Bob

Just copy the book from your pc to the Documents folder of the Kindle, while you are connected via USB. That only works because it is a DRM-free non-Amazon book. Otherwise, you couldn't transfer files from the Kindle app to a real Kindle, you'd have to re-download the book.

TY, Susan. I've found it in Documents, but my PC doesn't recognize my Kindle.

Going to have to go to a Kindle website or Amazon I guess to download Drivers and such.

Haha, wish me luck!

TY, Bob

Haven't got it yet, but maybe closer now. Went to Amazon and downloaded "Kindle for PC".

1.Downloaded from Mobipocket to PC.

2.Found file in documents, right click-send to Kindle.

Looked good, but it didn't get there.......

Your PC should recognize your Kindle -- there are no special drivers, it uses the standard USB device drivers.

Can your PC recognize a flashdrive?

TY very much for all the help. It turned out to be just using a Tighter USB cable needed.

I did get several email notices this morning from Amazon saying they couldn't transfer the book using their " Send to Kindle" software. Had to be .doc or PDF??? That would be far the easiest- I could now right click on darn near anything and Send to Kindle.

My email-

"""Dear Customer,

The following document, sent at 01:30 AM on Wed, Jul 02, 2014 GMT, could not be delivered to the Kindle you sent to:
* The Tale of Brownie Beaver.prc

Make sure the document your sent is of supported file type
Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx)
Rich Text Format (.rtf)
Text (.txt) documents
Mobi book
Images that are of type JPEGs (.jpg), GIFs (.gif), Bitmaps (.bmp), and PNG images (.png)
Adobe PDF (.pdf) can be converted to Kindle format and delivered on an experimental basis
Make sure each document sent is less than 50MB in size.
Make sure the document is not password protected or encrypted. Note that new generation Kindles support password protected PDFs.
Sometimes we have difficulty in converting and formatting the document.

I see now that it's a .prc file and will do research later to find out how to convert that to be able to send using "send to kindle"

Anyone using Send to Kindle??

No. I use calibre.

.prc files should be natively supported (no need to convert), unless they have DRM.

Yes, I had to do that the other day for an old Baen ebook. Calibre converts it just fine, then I could email it to my Kindle. (I'm lazy).

Send To Kindle

I use multiple methods for wirelessly sending things to Kindle:
  • Send To Kindle in browser (Google Chrome add-on)
  • Send To Kindle from folder (system download)
  • Send To Kindle from email (using my Kindle address)
  • Send To Kindle from Calibre (using my approved email address to pass through)

Sometimes the document will bounce back to me, saying it couldn't be processed. When that happens, I'll try one of the other send methods. If it fails a second time, I try to figure out what the issue was and if all else fails I'll reconvert it in Calibre. Since my main Send To Kindle actions are because I want to send an article or a fanfiction story to my Kindle, the need to reconvert usually isn't reached.

Wow, that Manybooks.net has about the same books as the Mobipocket Guide yet is much easier to navigate and downloading is a breeze!

I just took a look at a few books from Manybooks.net and I can say I see no point at all!

All I saw was content from Project Gutenberg with little if any attempts at beautification, addition of useful Table of contents etc.

Then I'd sure like to go where you go. Where is that?

I guess it seemed like a good place because I;m new.
