Aura lost my bookmark

I'm currently reading a medieval crime book wich contains some usefull features as : a time table (based on the church services) with approximative correspondance to actual time in a day and the most usefull to understand what's happening : a map of the abbey where the action takes place. So I set bookmarks on the twoo pages that interest me more to go back to them in case of need.
Now begin my problems : the first one : first bookmark is called "100% in the chapter" : not very clear to have a good idea of what it's about... The second one : the bookmark I put on the map doesn't show at all, though when I go back to that page, it's clearly marked.

The page I'm currently reading is called "37% in the chapter" and is not counted as a bookmark on the home screen.

Is there a way to force my Aura to keep memory of the bookmark I put on the map ? Or do I have to put on the page just before (or just after) ?

Is there a way to give a custom name to my bookmarks to make them more understandable ?

Just curious.... what format are these books in< ePub or kepub?

If kEpub were they converted by the calibre driver, renamed and copied to the device, or purchased from Kobo in kEpub format?

sideloaded kepub from epub converted by Calibre (to be able to zoom on the map or it's just unreadable)

to put a bookmark on the page just before the map doesn't work either

As far as I know, you can't name a bookmark. I played with a similar desire at one time but the only results were having to restore a database backup, factory reset and/or log out/log in (different ways of restoring a corrupted database). Not something I would recommend that most people inflict on themselves.

You can add a note to a bookmark. That will show in the new notebook view of the annotations list (FW3.4.1 and higher). I can't remember how it is shown in the older version of the list.

Unfortunately it just shows that you have a note, not the contents of the note unless you press it. I think in older versions it showed the note contents of highlights so I checked that out to see if it would work for the OP. It also requires a 2nd press to see the note contents
(at least in the current beta build).

Change the view. You probably have it in the list view. If you change to "Notebook", it will show the note under the bookmark details. I checked before I posted because it had been a while since I added a note to a bookmark. This is with the current beta.

To change the view, press the menu icon at the top right of the list. The first item is either "Notebook" or "List". Pressing it changes to that view.

You're right as usual! I don't use annotations much so I had forgotten the multiple views. That functionality will look after what the OP is after (i.e. you can add a note to your bookmark that says "MAP" etc that shows up in the list).

I've had a play after finding a book with a map. In this case, the map is the only thing in the chapter. And it works as expected. I can tap the top right corner, the dog-ear shows and the annotation list shows the bookmark. Selecting it takes me to the correct page.

The annotations list should show what chapter the bookmark is in. But, if the bookmark is in a file that is not in the ToC, the new list doesn't show the chapter name. I didn't remember what the old list did, so I just put my Touch back to 3.3.0. The bookmarks for files that are not in the TOC are listed under the file name within the book. For my example, this shows as "OEBPS/TEXT/MAP.HTML".

The only other thing I can think of is if you edited the book after sending it to the device and then replaced the book without deleting it first. This could result in a mismatch between the book and the TOC stored in the devices database. That can lead to some strange things happening. But, I would expect it to produce the opposite of what you are seeing; the bookmark in the list but not displayed on the page.

At this point, I would probably delete the book from the device and resend it. That could clean everything up and fix the problem. Otherwise, we would probably need to see the book to try an work out what is going wrong.

in fact the map is a full page jpeg inserted inside the book. I didn't edit it, perhaps, I should...
