Google’s biggest event of the year begins on Wednesday

It was a bit underwhelming I guess but Google Cardboard was interesting specially as it tweaks facebook nose for their purchase of Oculus Rift. With making your phone into a virtual reality headset for $5 why would anyone want to pay $300-$400 for an Oculus Rift.
Someone will probably come out with ready made phone holders in the next week or so that no need to make these yourselves

Now that I read more about the stuff at google io I have to amend my statement a bit about it being underwhelming. They didn't announce any new amazing device but the number of things they have announced for developers who the conference was it was a good first day.
I am interested in the cloud save api they announced. They mostly talked about syncing game position between different OS as well as devices. But reading apps could use this to provide a reading position sync between multiple devices and os. So you could read on your Ipad and continue it on your android phone. As well as syncing settings between different devices so the preferences that I set in one device the other devices could have the same without having to set them manually.
