No bold for Minion Pro
I have sideloaded a few fonts in the Aura, which were working fine in the Bookeen Orizon. Most of them work fine here too, but Minion Pro doesn't want to show the bold (or bold italic).
- I have named the variants "Minion Pro-Bold.otf", "Minion Pro-BoldItalic.otf", etc. - This is an OTF font, but I have other OTF fonts (like the TeX Gyre families) have no problem. - I'm testing with sideloaded epubs created by myself, no font embedding. - The firmware is 3.3.0. Any suggestion of what could be wrong or how could I make the Aura to use the bold? This is actually the "Caption" variant of the Minion Pro family, which works better at small sizes, could this be the reason? |

Look elsewhere in the Kobo fourm. To get it to work, you have to name them specifically. I don't recall the naming. But it's in the Kobo forum. I think try the font thread for help.

I did. That's why I named the files that way. The font appears in the menu as "Minion Pro", regardless of which filename I use, so I renamed all files as "Minion Pro-*.otf". This scheme works for other fonts, and as far as I can see for the italic Minion Pro too, just not for bold.

One other thing to try is to check for the OS/2 setting in Minion Pro. I know some versions of ADE have a problem with that if it's not set a certain way.

I changed everything I could think of, converted the fonts to ttf... no joy. The reader refuses to use the bold and bold italic fonts (the regular weight variants are used instead). This font worked fine in the Orizon, as it does with koreader.

Who made this version of Minion Pro?
Maybe I have a different one I could get to you to try. |

As a test I tried installing the Minion Pro that comes with the free Adobe Reader, and the bold and bold italic styles worked correctly (once renamed MinionPro-BoldItalic.otf, etc.)
