I have never seen it but based on reading the wiki page (ha ha), you might be interested in The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. I don't know if you'll find it similar, but it's a great book.

Love, love, LOVE The Sparrow. The Sparrow ends with a lot of stuff not resolved, so I think you'll want to have a copy of the sequel Children of God on hand. I don't know what I would have done if I had read The Sparrow right after it was published and had to wait 2 years to read the sequel.

Loved the TV show Earth 2 and shared it with my wife when it came out on Netflix.
As far as similar books goes here are a few colonization book ideas: Tunnel in the Sky - Robert Heinlein Remnant Population - Elizabeth Moon Beowulf's Children - Larry Niven Dragons Dawn - Anne McCaffrey Darkover Landfall - Marion Zimmer Bradley All ones I have read and enjoyed. |

Not quite off world but you might like:City At Worlds End It's here at MR in Epub format. It's an older book (written in the 50's) that fell into PD before the copyright laws changed.

I can't disagree with you there Dr Drib. The older SF is still some of the best. I 1st read this one in paperback. The library in the town I was living in was having a book sale and I bought the copy of Mr. Hamilton's book. Some of the astronomy is a little dated today, but that doesn't take anything away from the story I don't think.
