Where has all the excitement gone?

I have only been using Marvin since last November. I love it. I used to make a point of following this forum almost every day and looked forward to the frequent updates. It seems that lately, however, things have calmed down considerably. Is this just a normal evolution for great software or is interest declining? I hope not.

For me at least I still love the app & use it on my phone all the time, but AFAIK nothing big has really happened with it lately to generate lots of discussion. If I had an iPad it would be my go to reader on that device, but I use an Android tablet and being able to use Calibre Companion on it (Calibre Cloud is useful too) to have an organized large library I can easily browse using all of my Calibre meta data hasn't made me want to switch, even though I prefer Marvin a little to my main Android readers (Moon+ Pro & Mantano).

Though I have a Kindle Paperwhite (somewhere in the house

), I do 95% of my reading on my iPad and that's all due to the Marvin app. I just love it; best thing that ever happened to my e-reading life! I've wondered about the lack of activity here but I guess there's just nothing new to get excited about right now.

What features do you want that it hasn't got? I know Kris is working on another project at the moment and that he has some plans for improvements / updates to Marvin but we now have a very stable app that seems to suit most users as it is.

A port to pocketbook e-ink readers would be great ;-)

Honestly, I love Marvin and on the iPad I use it exclusively. But generally I prefer reading on e-readers. I've read about a software which will allow running iOS apps under Android. Hopefully this will work for Marvin at some time in the future. |

				New features

Actually, I can't think of any "new" features that Marvin is missing. I would like to see an inprovement in syncronization between the ipad and iphone. I understand that is in the works. Other than that, Marvin is wonderful.

Ability to sideload fonts would be nice, but not necessary...

I would only need two additional features:

	1. The ability to sideload fonts. 2. The ability to sideload offline dictionaries. |

I love it on my iPad. It's the only Tablet app I really like, even compared to the android ones. I'd buy it for my android tablet if it ever comes out for them.

As for changes, I have a massive library and would like to carry my whole library in it, but have been told that's not realistic. So I just sort into it what ever genre I'm reading at a time. I can carry all my books in a File Manager program, then chose and open a book in Marvin. So it all works out in the end. I'd like to be able to load my epubs through Dropbox into collections the same way I can get epubs sorted into collections through Calibre. Dropbox seems to just put them all in one file. Maybe I'm just not reading the right instructions. Otherwise, it's still my favorite program. I just don't see much new to talk about at this time. Last edited by DuskyRose; 05-21-2014 at 12:23 PM. Biggest feature that I'd like to see is the ability to manually arrange the bookshelf (or to have an alternate sort field to mimic a manually arranged bookshelf).

I see Marvin as causing a major problem. All the folks are now reading instead of posting. For shame.

I must admit I've gone back to iBooks for the moment because I alternate between my iPhone and my iPad mini and I like having my books synced (pages, highlights, locations, notes etc etc) so when marvin will be able to do this then it will be the only e-reader I'll be using.
