I think my KT has died
As usual, charged it and added a few books, powered off.
Now it won't power up. Shows green when plugged in, will go to blue (sometimes) on using the power switch, also when using the reset hole - nothing else happens. Also tried the 15 second power button hold I saw somewhere. I suppose I can try the home + power reset as a last resort. |

No reaction to that either - looks like it's probably had it, unless there is another magic combination - or maybe the battery is dead.
Ah spotted one last suggestion, combinations including paperclip reset and power, or all 3, that's going to need good co-ordination Last edited by Matth79; 09-29-2014 at 06:48 PM. |

Just to confirm what you need to do to force a factory reset: - Charge the battery for at least an hour. - Hold the power switch in the off position for at least 20 seconds. This will force a power off. - Hold the home button down and turn it on. Or hold the home button down and press the pinhole reset button. - When the LED starts flashing, release the home button. If the above doesn't work, try it again but hold everything a little longer. If the above still doesn't work, depending in exactly which model of the Touch it is, you can try restoring the internal SD card from an image. The image is available for the N905B and N905C. The N905 doesn't have removable internal memory so can't be imaged. |

Nothing else worked, so maybe it's time to crack it open ... any instructions around for getting the back off?
On the edge it just says N905 - would the B or C be printed there? |

Your Kobo touch has no B or C after 905 indicates it has no removable internal SD card. This means you can not easily fix corrupted firmware on your Kobo.
Alls not lost. You could use it as expensive picture frame. |

Too open your Kobo touch.
I would hold your reader face down on table right next to table edge. Reason I like it face down on table, I think is little less likely to twist screen which can damage screen. I also use a guitar pick. I would start at top left corner away from off/on switch. Work pick down side towards bottom. Then across bottom and across top to center and up other side to switch then across top to switch. Twist pick a little helps separate case. As you slide pick down side you will feel plastic tab that hold 2 top and bottom halves together. This is where I twist pick. Do not stick pick in too far as can't see what can be damaged. My Kobo wifi had double sided tape holding halves together. I used pick to separate this also. Just be careful and try to see how to do this without damage. Could still have lose connection, bad battery or something that could be fixed. |

I had a similar problem a few months ago. I opened the Touch up, then disconnected and reconnected the battery cable. It powered right up and charged like a dream. Its been working perfectly ever since. Give that a shot.
