Can XFer from Calibre to Galaxy TabS5e, but cannot find books in Kindle app

I got Calibre to recognize the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e, just fine and can transfer books from Calibre, but I cannot find them in the Kindle app on the tablet. I've tried transferring to the Internal Storage Document and kindle folders and to the SD card, Books, Documents and Download folders, but also cannot find them in the app. Any suggestions??

What format are these books? The Kindle app cannot read epub, for instance.

When I used the Kindle app on my Android phone a few years ago, copying the books to the Kindle folder made them visible in the app. They were usually azw3 format. But I don't know what the Kindle app is up to these days, as I no longer use it.

The books are AZW3 format. I don't keep EPUB format in my calibre file unless I need it for some reason; however I almost always download EPUB's to caliber as the conversion is cleaner. Do you transfer ebooks from your calibre file to another device like a tablet to read or listen to? If so, how do you do it? If I transfer from Amazon like "content and devices" (Kindle Unlimited), they do show up in my Galaxy Tab S5e OK - just not from Calibre.

I mostly read on my eink Kobo readers and transfer from Calibre, via USB. Sometimes (rarely these days) I read on my Android phone, in Moon+ Reader. The books for Moon Reader are in EPUB format, I usually download them from Dropbox and move to the Books folder on my phone. I haven't used the Kindle app for years, but it's somewhat surprising it can't find your files from the Kindle folder. Have you tried to force stop the app, to restart the tablet and so on?

Kindle Unlimited has DRM because you do not own those.
The app probably checks when it does find a new book. (I know I could not restore my Kindle Library from a backup, onto the PC it came from before an OS restore (the one that wipes many 3rd party installs)

Which begs the Q, why not use the app to get the book from Amazon?

I've actually figured out the problem and have fixed it. The Kindle reader on my Galaxy Tab will not recognize a DeDRMed AZW3 book. If I download a KU book directly to the Tab and bypass Calibre then all is OK. So I converted some books in Calibre to MOBI, downloaded them to the Tab, and all is hunky dory now. thanks all who responded to me.

The iOS app is the same. It would be so nice if the app could read azw3. I too transfer mobi if I want to read a calibre book on the kindle app.

The iOS app has never been able to read azw3, but the Android app read them perfectly well a couple of years ago. I wonder what's changed and why.

If I transfer an AZW3 from Kindle Unlimited to my Galaxy Tab (Android app reader) it works. It seems that the DRM is the culprit. I don't understand what the mechanics of adding (or removing) DRM to an ebook, but it appears that Amazon has modified the Kindle app to make sure the DRM is in place for the AZW3 books. Does that make sense?

It might, but not all Kindle books have DRM in the first place.
