Spliting a file

Sigil has the "Split at Markers" (F6) using <hr class="sigil_split_marker" />.

I have not found anything similar in ebook-edit.

Have I missed it??

Calibre uses something called x-path which works a little differently, but it isn't hard to use once you get the hang of it.

I loaded a HTML file with all <hr class="sigil_split_marker" /> in place. I right clicked in the code view. Xpath window came up and I pasted <hr class="sigil_split_marker" />. Although the Xpath says a tag of any class nothing happens.

It seems to me that a unique string e.g. <hr class="sigil_split_marker" />
is all that is needed. For those with more complex requirements, the Xpath is available.

KISS is always good.

Well I just tried the following using the Wizard.

Code:

Match HTML tags: hr
Having the attribute: class
With value: sigil_split_marker

for an XPath expression of

Code:

//h:hr[re:test(@class, "sigil_split_marker", "i")]

and it worked perfectly.

Right click on the code view of a page and select Split at multiple locations then click on the Wizard's Wand.

True, but I was only wondering about it, never had a pressing need to do it. Could be that DoctorOhh has the knack of making his posts comprehensible to Dummies like me.
