How do you add more conversion options?

Each format type has its set of relevant (allowed?) options

System wide defaults are set in preferences: (Conversions)
They may be overridden on the conversion screen

Once used by a title, calibre remembers the values that were used at the time. There is a reset option, to cause the current defaults to be used

Output options, sorry. I can't get any other options other than Epub, mobi, AZW3, Fb2, htmlz, lit, lrf, pdb, pdf, pmlz, RB, rtf, snb, tcr, txt, txtz and zip. Or is that all of them? I thought there were more.

You want to add Conversion formats? Those listed (existing) are commonly used.

2. I cannot think of any reason why someone would want to convert an ebook TO a semantically broken format like a word document. Clearly not just for reading, as there are many far better programs to do that.

1. No, but I implied it with my 3rd post, I was looking for ways to add docx to the output dropdown, thus the ability to convert to .docx.
2. If it were broken why would 500 million people be using it?

Don't see why not, RTF was spawned by MS, and it seems to be a far messier can of worms than DOCX is, and Calibre will output RTF. Given the functionality of the built-in DOCX Input plugin and the 'apparent' ease with with Kovid can add features to it then it may not be so hard to create an Output PI. And the manual says

In order of decreasing preference: LIT, MOBI, AZW, EPUB, AZW3, FB2, DOCX, HTML, PRC, ODT, RTF, PDB, TXT, PDF

Interestingly LIT was also spawned by Microsoft Corporation, and its also one of the available output formats.

I convert a lot of ex PDF 'crap' to RTF, load it into Word, apply a suitable template and save as DOCX. I decrapify the DOCX via the library of macros I've snagged over the last quarter of century, almost. I have better things to do with my time than to convert the macros from wordbasic into ???. I then convert the DOCX into EPUB - maybe do a bit of tidying up with Sigil and/or the Calibre Editor.

1. Overlooked this.

2. Really? 500,000,000 people want their ebooks in .docx format?

No one who has a perfectly good, professionally cleaned EPUB should be letting it get anywhere near a WYSIWYG/WYSINWYW editor like a word processor.
