Virtual Libraries Search Expressions

Hi,

does anyone know if it there is such a thing as an exclusion expression that can be used when setting up a Virtual Library.

I have a shelf column with the following in it Fantasy, Fantasy - Riftwar, Fantasy - Forgotten Realms. I would like to create a Virtual Library that only shows books which are in Fantasy, but because the other Shelves have Fantasy at the begging of the name they always appear, so does anyone know of a way I can exclude them of do an exact match.

If they were regular Tags I would use tags:"=Fantasy" to create the vitual library but for your shelf I would use #shelf:"=Fantasy" substitute your custom column name for #shelf.

Equal (=) is an exact match

Preceding a search with a Not excludes the match

Using Dr Ohhs example

Code:

not tags:"=Fantasy"

should return everything BUT 'Fantasy'

Thanks, that worked, could not get the = to work (all I got was no results, when I should have got some). Got the NOT to work, I had been trying it with the != expecting that to work!

Playing with the Tag Browser is a good way to get a feel for searches. It also helps you build search expressions easily.
