My daughter is out of state at her Dad', I want to send her a flash drive with books that can be dropped in her kindle (via computer).
What do I need to copy from my calibre files to do so? Do I (from Calibre) just save to disk and save on the flash drive? Then.... when putting the books from the flash drive to the kindle just drop the whole folder into the documents file on the kindle? Thanks Semi-literate user.... |

AZW3 format works well on my K4, If you configure the Disk or Folder (drivers) when you first connect (on the device Icon: Configure this device) to have only the proper formats ticked and ordered, you should be good to go with the sneakernet. ![]() At her end: Simply copy or move the books (or folders: the K4 does not seem to mind sub-directories) to where the existing books are found. |

you should be able to email them direct to her kindle , via amazon's personal documents free service - each device has a kindle email & a list of who is allowed to send stuff
( she would need to find and manage this info on here manage your kindle amazon page after logging into amazon web site. once your email is on the approved senders list & you know here kindle device email address, then you just email direct from calibre to her Kindle. ( I have never looked at calibres' email-out facilities but I think it has some ! ) |

You can enable cloud, and still block internet, kindle store and goodreads. and even if you disable cloud, I'm not sure if kindle personal document service is disabled, or not.

Even if you disable cloud that merely stops you from opening the Cloud view on the device.
You should still be able to manually send books from https://amzn.com/myk or by emailing them through the Personal Documents service. Last edited by eschwartz; 05-11-2014 at 10:20 PM. Reason: typoos :D |

It isn't. If you click on connect to folder and point it to your flash drive you can put more on faster

^That's true, but when I made that comment it was assumed that there would be no internet connection
