Beware! - Geeky wall of text incoming! - Beware!
You know I've talked about and at least one time in klingon, or tlhIngan Hol as it is called in its own language. Since we're all well-read around here, I thought this might be of some interest to you: (Note that despite the DE, the wiki is available in english. In fact, more pages are in english than german right now.) This wiki is not in klingon, but about klingon. There is a wiki in klingon, though. The qepHom-wiki (to differentiate it from the wikia klingon wiki) tries to gather all information about the language - tidbits like a list of canon klingon names, but more importantly also grammatical information like that there is no past tense in klingon (doesn't mean you can't say things likewejHu' vIlegh I saw him three days ago). Right now it may look somewhat incomplete, with lots of red links (indicating not yet created pages) and the occassional "fill in more details" reminder. This is because the whole wiki is basically the work of a single driven person: Lieven Litaer, also known as KlingonTeacher As you can see from following the link, he not only created a wiki, he also regularly publishes videos on Youtube, giving hints about how to speak the warriors tongue. He hosts a yearly meeting of klingon language enthusiasts, called the "qepHom" (you saw that word in the adress to the wiki). If you're wondering what exactly this "qepHom" is and why it's of any more relevance with regard to klingon than any other fansite, take my word that it is. qepHom literally means "small meeting" and is used as the generic name for any meetup of klingon (language) enthusiasts. THE qepHom, however, is a regular event in Germany (Saarbrücken) hosted by the aforementioned Lieven - for over a decade now, this years is going to be the 13th. If you're interested in klingon and live halfway close, it's definitely worth the visit. You don't need to speak the language, you certainly don't have to dress up (some do, though it takes them quite a while - we're not talking cheap plastic masks, we're talking custom latex fragments individually glued to their faces and heads until a complete klingon stares at you). So, any questions, or comments? :-) Here're the important links again: http://wiki.qephom.de/En http://qephom.de/e/index.html https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXr...Kwmt7XImCh4JmQ http://klingon.wikia.com |
