Sigil suggestion

Hi,

I've just joined--not sure if this is the right place for Sigil feature suggestions--but figured I'd post a couple:

In "preview" mode (rather than "code" mode), I'd love it if you could right-click a paragraph and and have its CSS style class pop up in an editable text field, so that you could change the class right in the popup. The field could even autocomplete, based on the style classes you have already created.

This one is probably more particular to me, but I'd love to have a counting function somewhere that shows how often each style class in the CSS sheet is used--it would help pinpoint outliers that are probably redundant with others, and/or just slightly different in a way I don't need them to be.

Just thoughts--not complaints. I really like Sigil! Of all the things I've been able to use for free, definitely the one that has done the most to make my life easier.

Check out the reports that can be generated. That should help you.

"Style Classes in HTML Files" and "Style Classes in CSS Files" is extremely helpful:

Hey, Kat:

I like the Preview-mode pop-up idea, although it's a bit redundant. You can see this using the Firebug-like console in the Preview mode. Use "Elements," select the element in the Left-hand pane, and then view the CSS in the right-hand-pane, under "Styles."

Does that help? It's not quite as cool as "insta-pop-up," admittedly, but the functionality you seek IS there, more or less.

(P.S.: I actually never use this, myself; but I did remember I'd noted it some time back, so I checked it today and, yes, it works, more or less, like Firebug, at least, for lookup purposes.)

Best,
Hitch

The Reports are one of the best things about Sigil! I use them all the time when cleaning files.

Another fantastic Report when working from OCRed text is "Characters in HTML Files":

Name:	CharactersReports.png
Views:	195
Size:	14.8 KB
ID:	122274

If you do a lot of OCR, it allows you to catch a bunch of accented/weird unicode characters, which are most likely a mistake (at least in English).

If you double-click on a character, Sigil will search the book for you and send you to the next instance of the character.... or my FAVORITE, is to plop the unicode character into Tools - Spellcheck:

Name:	SpellcheckAccent.png
Views:	203
Size:	5.6 KB
ID:	122275

And it will tell you every single word that has that accented character in it. This allows you to quickly spot/fix up a swath of errors, or point you to errors in the actual book where they FORGOT to put the accented version of the word (18 instances of "naïve" and 2 of "naive").
