Un-cooperative Author & Calibre

Hi all, I use calibre to organize my ebooks on my paperwhite 2 to organize my amazon content and non books into series and add metadata. This works really well with the majority of my books, however 1 author's books of which there are 22 bought from amazon which consist of 3 series will not co-operate.

I download my books to pc edit in calibre then transfer to kindle via usb. I always check that the delivery of books is to my paperwhite and use Apprentice Alf ad convert them in calibre. All my books are then in order and tidy on my home page except the 22 books by this particular author.

In calibe I can organize these books into their separate series an add metadata they all look fine, but when I transfer to kindle although the kindle says they are on the device I cannot find them and if they do load and are visible they show up in the wrong order and then vanish from my home screen the next time I use the device. If I download straight from the cloud they stay visible on the device but are in the wrong order.

If anyone could explain how and why just this 1 author's books are giving me grief when all my other books/series are behaving I'd be grateful, also if there is anyway to make these 22 books tow the line that I've missed.
