Kindle Keyboard for note taking
I've seen a very cheap Kindle Keyboard and I was wondering if it's possible to type and take notes on the KK.
Before anyone says an e-reader is not suitable for taking notes and typing on, I already do it a lot on a rooted Nook. The rooted Nook can use Android note-taking apps. The KK can't run android apps, so I'm wondering about it's software functionality to take notes / write on. I doubt I'd register it. I'd hack it mercilessly. Part of the appeal is that the hardware keyboard might be better to thumb-type on than the screen. For one thing, it would leave more screen free. |

Having had both, personally I find the soft keyboard of the Kindle Touch and Paperwhite to be much, MUCH faster and easier to use than the tiny rubber keys of the Kindle Keyboard.

myts-8 is one of the better Kindle Keyboard terminals. Prerequisites are Jailbreak + some way of invoking the scripts e.g. Launchpad (recommended), KUAL or Kite. You can then use the built in VI editor which is esoteric and somewhat limited but entirely adequate for plain text. Heck, I've even used it to review and edit large chunks of C code (not even for a kindle) while on the bus!

Rizla I recommend a laptop for what you are doing. The keys will be much larger than that of a Kindle Keyboard and much better suited to note taking.

Yeah, the keyboard on the KK isn't that great. I use DraftIn's web interface on my Paperwhite 2 though. The keyboard on the touchscreen is gorgeous.

Yes, touchscreen keyboard on the Paperwhite is far superior to the KK (even though it has its own quirks and doesn't work "as expected" if you're used to smartphone keyboards).

Works pretty much the same, to my mind. Hold down a key to get the variants of it (accented letters, etc). In what way would you say it differs?
