PW 2 Update 5.4.3 !!!!!!

The software update includes general improvements and the following feature enhancements:

Access Notes from the Reading Menu
While reading, you can view all of your notes by tapping the Menu icon and then selecting Notes. You can also continue to access the Notes tab from the Go To menu in the reading toolbar. To learn more, go to Add, View, Edit or Remove Notes

Manage Cloud Collections
See all of your collections in a Collections view, and customize where your collections show on your device. To learn more, go to View and Manage Your Cloud Collections.

PDF Improvements
Pan and zoom within PDF documents more quickly and easily, and adjust the margins for an optimized reading experience.

Cancel Full Book Purchase from within a Sample
While reading a book sample, you can view the price of the full book and purchase with one tap. You can also cancel the purchase before the download is complete by tapping cancel purchase.

And they also integrated the feature i missed the most from pw1 !!!!! When you look up for a word you can select multiple dictionaries !! JB survived, Screensaver hack had to be reinstalled.

View and Manage Your Cloud Collections

Customize the way you view and access collections on your Kindle Paperwhite by filtering items on your Home screen. You can also star your favorite collections to make them even more accessible.

To filter items on your Home screen:
From Home, tap My Items. You will see options to view All Items or view only Books, Periodicals, Docs, Collections, or Active Content.
Tap Collections to see all of your collections.
To star a collection:
Press and hold a collection cover, and then tap Show in All Views. A star will appear in the bottom-right corner of the collection cover. The collection will appear on your Home screen when you view All Items or Collections.

The collection will also appear when you view Books, Docs, or Active Content if it contains books, personal documents, or active content, respectively.

Note: Star settings are device-specific. When you create a new collection, it is automatically starred.

To unstar a collection:
Press and hold a starred collection cover, and then tap Show Only in Collections View. A star will no longer appear on the collection cover, and the collection will only appear on your Home screen when you view Collections.


Well hopefully making favorite collections on each device should help in those situations for different users on one account. I am about to update now to see how much improvements or problems this update causes.

I was curious about the Cloud Collections changes but it says that the unstared collections still appear under collections view just not under All Items. I always use Collections View (I'm still on PW1) so how different is the All Items view?

Since you're kindly being the guinea pig (I'm still safely on 5.4.0 ) my cloud collections-related questions for you are:
- Does the Kindle still whinge every time changes are made to collections with the Wi-Fi off?
- How do the cloud collections behave now with books bought from Amazon and side-loaded from Calibre after a bit of a metadata tidy-up and Alf magic?

Well I was gonna come on here and say, yes Amazon got something right and this new update makes collections and the home page better organized and not so cluttered. Well....

The hiding of collections works and it is something that I like, unfortunately in Cloud view all those books that are a part of the hidden collections, well now they are showing up on the Home Page. Which means I went from having 15 pages if all collections are viewable to 97 pages, of which 5 of them are collections. So now I need to figure it which ones I need to turn back on so that only collections are showing.

Other than this tiny flaw, I like this feature, it makes the debacle of 5.4.2 much more manageable. Of course keep in mind this is only the experimentation of my pw2, I have not yet explored my android device(s) to see if these favorites are throughout the account or are device specific. More later...

Nothing changed, it still does the same thing.

I am not sure about this one, all my Alfed books purchased from Amazon still have their ASIN associated with them, so Amazon recognizes them as their books, even though they are Alfed. The non-Amazon ones still have the same annoying messages. Oh and the update knocked them out of their collections kinda. I had to act like I was adding them back in order for them to be recognized as being in collections again, even though once in collection mode, all their collections were still checked. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for checking. I think I'll just stay on good old 5.4.0, can't be bothered faffing around with the not-from-Amazon-books and the nag messages would just annoy me every time. Bit of a shame really, I did take the time to sort out my cloud collections via the Android app (mostly removing the ghosts from Kindles past really) and I keep them up to date too so at least it's kind of ready to go when I eventually have no choice but use them

Me too, I just need to wiggle some things around so that every book is in at least one collection that is showing so that my Cloud view only shows those books that are not in collections. Currently I use my PW2 in order to manage my collections, so I need to be able to quickly and easily see which ones need to be put into collections.

Once again, with this update I need to do a little maintenance to fix some stragglers. But after that, this one will be bearable in the long term.

If this is back, I'll have to update. I do wish they'd gotten rid of the stupid messages when wifi is off, but I suppose they're mostly a minor hassle.
