Embeded Video eBook
Hi, purchased an ebook which came in Kindle format (and works fine) but it has video content which I can view at the publishers site with an online viewer. It is however available to download in iBooks format (only) with the video content embedded. I downloaded this which shows as a ePub format on my PC but although I can open it in Calibre the embedded video is lost. Should (or can) Calibre (with or without the aid of a plugin) access the embedded video and if so how? or is there any other way of reading this book and accessing the video content but on a PC platform ?
I hope that all makes sense. Thanks in advance for any answers.... |

calibre's viewer does not support embedded video. Since the file is designed for iBooks and iBooks is available for the Mac why not use iBooks to read it? If you are on a PC you will have to hunt around for an epub reader that supports embedded video.

Yes that's the obvious solution if I had a Mac.
So having got the obvious out of the way does anybody know of a reader that would do this on a PC. |

@petercook80 - try the Readium addon for the Chrome Browser - or there might be something else in this list http://www.mathjax.org/resources/epub-readers/

Another option would be to extract the video (if it's Epub like it claims, it's just a zip file, so you should be able to unzip it and look for the video file itself), then add the video as another format to the book. Calibre can't read it natively, but it should be able to send it back out to Windows to handle with whatever video player you have installed.

![]() Same caveat applies to my Readium suggestion - don't imagine the Cupertino Crowd abide by EPUB3 rulz, which what the Readium addon for Chrome claims it can do. BR |

Of course, I have no idea what the video format is inside the ebook. It could still be proprietary. |
