I was looking for an English translation of Sydpolen (FOUND IT!) about the Norwegian Antarctic expedition. Also came across some gems:

SLIGHT difference. The Gutenberg site has many formats including Kindle.
Amazon only has Kindle editions for e-readers.

I recommend that you check also http://archive.org and http://books.google.com/books as I've found that sometimes they will have books that gutenberg does not have.

Well, of course they carry mobi.

But since these titles are in the public domain, if one wanted an epub, just visit (in addition to Gutenberg) other sites such as B&N, Kobo, etc. for the format of choice.

MR user "SBT" has uploaded numerous books on polar exploration to our ebook library. These are much more nicely formatted than the PG versions.
