Turn extra cover display off?
OK, I'm feeling stupid now...
And after making fun of my 81-year-old Dad because he twice lost the toolbar on Windows Mail and I said, "Google 'show toolbar in Windows Mail' and you'll probably get a forum question that tells you."! I now have a similar problem, and because Calibre's menu system is idiosyncratic and my Google-fu hasn't turned anything up, I can't seem to figure out what to do. I appear to have got it to show a Cover Flow sort of view on top of my book database (taking up space like an iTunes visualiser or something). Although this is attractive, I already have a cover view to the right of the title, and it's just taking up space. Nor do I know what odd key-combination made it happen. I don't know how this happened, how to un-happen it, or even how to conceptualise it to look it up properly (looking up various keywords in this forum, the Calibre manual, or Google, doesn't seem to have turned up any reference to it, at least not near the top of the results). Confused, woofb |

@woofb - click the icon next to luggage tag bottom right corner
You may have inadvertently pressed shift/alt/b - it toggles it on and off, shift/alt/g does the same for the Grid - g and b are adjacent keys BR Last edited by BetterRed; 03-15-2014 at 12:42 AM. |

So it does! That's why I usually post screen shots - less doubt about what I mean.
But it begs the question, why are the buttons in different order in Wide and Narrow, and should they be so? Oh, no don't tell me - OSF standards  BR |

Why the icons are sorted different depending on view isn't too important, the fact that they are there means the OP should toggle each icon on and off in turn so he is aware of the quick options that exist and why his display ended up looking as it does now.

I'd actually prodded quite a few things, but I hadn't noticed the little things at the bottom. I'll have a go through the manual and try to understand more, because Calibre has probably got more options I wasn't aware of. (Less confused) Woofb |

Having clicked on them in succession, I think I can see why the UI does it that way, it's conceptually similar to just flip particular views on or off while 'in' the Calibre library rather than the menu system. I was just completely unaware they were there until it was brought to my attention. Woofb |
