DVD Mailers for potential DIY Projects

I just happened to look at my Reader versus a DVD clamshell and noticed they were the same size other then the Reader being 3/8" shorter. Having mailed DVD's in their clamshells before it reminded me of the rather ridgid cardboard or corrugated plastic shippers. One could use a mailer and glue contact paper or cloth/etc on the outside or if one were more handy use it as an inner liner for a sewn work with a clasp and strap perhaps. The following link is for reference, you'd have to buy several whereas I know different shippers, office supply stores and the US Postal Service sells them individual for a couple bucks.

Glad you replied, made me think of something. The size comparison is of the Reader -with- the standard cover attached. Otherwise it's quite smaller the clamshell in all dimensions. -MJ

That's the same relationship used to make plastic cases. Several of us have made this one:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11420

This case exploits the 3/8 shorter situation to put in cushioning. That softens bumps in the vertical axis, the most common kind it your case is in a bookbag. I've gotten a couple of emails from folks who covered the case with fabric or vinyl, but I've never been able to extract photos from them. I just use the bare plastic, but I've no sense of style. If you sew up something cool, please post a couple of photos for the less-creative of us.
