POTUS to ditch Blackberry; move to Android
When Obama first took office, he fought hard to keep his Blackberry and was allowed to do so after some modifications. But that relationship may be coming to an end as the White House is currently testing Samsung and LG phones to replace the Blackberry. Obama recently asked about moving to an iPhone, but that idea was nixed because its OS lacks the flexibility to implement highly secure communications required of the White House.
It's interesting that when Obama leaves the White House, his emails related to official duties will be subject to the Presidential Records Act, but his strictly personal emails won't be. This is viewed as a blow to Blackberry, even though they already have been rapidly losing market share for years. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...e-ANDROID.html |

This is interesting. The company my husband works for won't allow them to have Android phones, citing security concerns. They all use iPhones.

I suspect the Whitehouse wants to do things with the phone which the iPhone sandbox (implemented for extra security) won't allow. I think its funny.

The article is talking about the ability to implement secure communications protocols, while the company that your husband works for is probably looking at security from an entirely different perspective.

I think it would be hard to trust anyone to do it, but they really should go for a custom ROM for maximum security. I think even a custom device at that.
Take out the bulk, sideload the essentials. |

Android is open source. Build a new OS from source, locking down what needs to be locked down. Though you would think that Apple would be leaping up and down trying to convince security people that they could implement anything they wanted.
