pdf file in Calibre library asks for password

After adding a pdf file, Calibre adds a password protection to the file, even though the file opened perfectly well before without any password. Has anyone had the same issue? Exists on both Calibre 64 bit 1.26 and Calibre 32 bit 1.7.

Calibre never ever will protect files. You have add a file what already include a password protection.

As it opens outside Calibre, try doing that and then printing it to a new pdf file using a tool such as PrimoPDF or PDFCreator. This will often result in the newly created file being cleaned of redundant remnants of previous security settings.

The file opens when not imported into the Calibre library, but asks for a password as soon as it has been imported into the library and is opened via the Calibre browser. The pdf reader in both cases is Sumatra pdf.

Thank you. You're right, it must be an issue with the file itself. I now simply exchanged the file in the library with the file that was not imported, and that "solved" the issue for now.
