Is it harder to highlight in Paperwhite 2 than in Paperwhite "1"?
I was considering buying a Paperwhite 2, but it is important to me that it is easy to make highlights. As can be seen if you pause the below video at 8.32... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFoUPtSAors ...it appears that on paperwhite 2 you have to first push 'More' in order to reach 'Highlight'. Making it one extra click. Is there a workaround/hack to solve this on the Paperwhite 2? |

Hi, I find it easier because I find my PW2 screen more responsive and I think there might have been a slight tweak in the software too since I'm pretty sure the highlight stops by itself at the end of a sentence. I've noticed that it seems to find the next full stop. Also, highlighting over the page seems to be easier.
To highlight you just leave your finger at the point concerned and after a little second, drag your finger along and then stop when you've got to where you need to be. The menu will pop up and you just select 'highlight'. Done deal. I really like the clippings file. Works really well for me anyhow. Hope that helps. |

It seems my PW2 may be more accurate than was my PW1 in highlighting. Just my .02.

AFAIK, the capacitive touch screen of the PW2 v the infra red touch screen of the PW (and most other ereaders, Kobo Aura excepted) should be more accurate and responsive? So even if there is an extra tap on the screen for a menu option, the ease of highlighting should superior on the PW2.

Video is wrong !
Quote:
1. Add Note 2. HIGHLIGHT 3. Share 4. More If you tap "More," you get the second menu which has: 1. Search 2. Wikipedia 3. Translation 4. Report Content Error If you tap "Search," you get the third menu which has: 1. This book 2. All Text 3. Kindle Store For Paperwhite 2012 after you highlight a phrase the first menu has: 1. Share 2. Add Note 3. Highlight 4. More If you tape "More," you get a second menu which has: 1. Search 2. Wikipedia 3. Translation 4. Report Content Error. Thus, "Highlight" is in the first menu in both models. Last edited by sirmaru; 02-27-2014 at 03:01 PM. |

Sirmaru, thank you for a splendid reply!
Yes, I actually noticed this when watching videos yesterday: It seems that if you press ONE word on the PW2/2013 you don't get the highlihgt-option, but if you mark more than one word you DO get the highlihgt-option presented. So yesterday I ordered a PW2/2013! :-) Thank you for your help guys! :-) |
