interactive ebook cover
I'm not sure what to make of this. Atavist Books (which is a new publisher, as I understand it) is publishing a novella by Karen Russell (Swamplandia!) and the cover design, by Chip Kidd (the most famous cover designer working today), is said to be "interactive."
Story here: http://shelf-life.ew.com/2014/02/27/...onation-cover/ And demo here: https://atavistbooks.creatavist.com/...-cover-preview It's cool that they are doing something new, but 1. The animation looks pretty primitive and 2. Who is going to SUPPORT this? The article doesn't address this at all. If you buy the book from Amazon, Apple, etc., are you ever going to see and interact with this interactive cover? And how? eP |

I really don't see the point, I'd rather read a book than spend time poking at the cover

Seemed like an all around waste of time to me. It didn't make me want to read the book, or even know what it's about. |

Another "just because we can" idiocy.

Seems like just the ebook equivalent of the idea of printing a holographic picture of some sort onto the (dust) cover of a paper book.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Leave the interactive idea for children's novels instead where it matters more.
