Minor vent: PW2 case with the metal
I love everything about the official PW2 case, except for the metal part.
For some reason (for me!), this metal part is always pressing against my fingers in a way that I don't like as I read. If I could, I would rather feel cloth all around my fingers as I hold my PW2. End of minor vent. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have a slipcover. You slip the PW into it from the left, and close it using a velcro flap. It covers the front of the device, except for the screen. (Like, duh.) The magnets are built into the cover. It has no metal or flaps or clasps or anything. It's one like this. The black one seems to be a bit different: it doesn't have a cutout for the Kindle logo. The non-black ones do have this; mine does too. These are my favorite covers. No-nonsense, cheap, functional, an no metal parts. Also, many cases have a loop for a stylus (all Kobo Aura ones seem to have one). I hate that as well. It looks weird, and it's in the way. And who's going to use a stylus with an e-reader anyway? Clasps are the bane of the devil. They're ALWAYS in the way. Last edited by Katsunami; 02-23-2014 at 12:17 PM. |

There are lots of inexpensive cases out there which would overcome this issue.

It does seem like they could have made that clasp a bit better, as it definitely isn't the most comfortable when the cover's folded back for reading. Interesting design choice.

I'm surprised by all of the hatered of the clasp. I never even notice mine. My only worry is that it'll scratch something when I slide the kindle on a table or something, but that's not been a problem in > 1 yr of use.

They should have built a piece of iron into the paperwhite housing, and a very flat magnetic strip into the cover. That way, the clasp could have been completely omitted.
