ePub to HTML conversion missing links
This is my first post here.
I have converted a non-DRM ePub to HTMLZ in order to improve the fonts, formatting, etc, using Calibre (latest version). After unzipping the HTMLZ file, I open the index.html file in Word 2013, but the links to the TOC, endnotes and pictures all lead me back to the first page. In other words all the links appear to be broken. Is this 'normal', ie. does Calibre not support this, or am I doing something else wrong? When I open the ePub in iPad Mini, all the links are functional, so there is nothing wrong with the ePub file. |

Have you considered using the Calibre's Book Editor to edit the EPUB directly.

I wanted to insert paragraph numbers into the text - some 580 of them, so not sure whether the editor supports that. Also need to modify some paragraph styles. I tried the ZIP output option and that seems to work when there are no pictures in the book. As soon as there are pictures it seems to break up the book into multiple HTML files.

You need to reinsert them into Word. Word is not a HTML editor.

I don't think the editor has paragraph numbering, but if you make a post in the Editor subforum requesting it then... BR |

Thanks for the replies. Calibre however cannot convert the ePub to RTF. I am not too concerned about the endnotes, and the TOC is easy enough to re-generate.

calibre supports RTF as a format, and as such the conversion pipeline can read and write to RTF. How well it will look depends, as always, on how well the source document is formatted.

@trevgrif - you may need to adjust Preferences->Tweaks->Choose available formats for conversion to include RTF.
