Is there anyone knows the differernce between the earliest M92 and Black Pearl one?
Besides,totally confused when see M92,M92 M and M92 SM on Onyx-Boox.Ru...

Hello,

The russian market is special, "closed". In Russia, there without some features : audio, Wacom, etc.

Europe and the rest of the world :
M92 : standard model -> http://ereader-store.de with audio and Wacom.
M92 Black Pearl : Poland ArtaTech. Software modified. Updates from this forum are not compatible with the device, except if you use a specific tool but you can loose the warranty.

Wow, are we sure that the non-ArtaTech model which ereader-store/booxtor is selling is using an earlier e-Ink panel i.e. it's not the Pearl ?? What about the re-branded Icarus XCel then?

That's seriously influencing my purchase decision.

For the three devices, the screen is the same.

"Pearl black" is a commercial name for the ArtaTech's model, like Icarus. The three devices have the same hardware, but only standard M92 (http://ereader-store.de) and the Icarus are compatible with the firmware in this forum.

The choice could be done by selecting the software.

Ah ok, so it's not the same as in "Pearl e-ink panel" (which Kindle DX 2nd generation is also having). The Pearl panel is supposed to be superior to previous panels (better contrast so I heard), so it's good that all Onyx M92 "flavours" are using the same.

by the way, the m92 from ereader-store.eu is called BOOXTOR-EDITION, it comes with a multitasking-manager to open more science books the same time to switch between them smoothly, which is quite usefull for academic reading or to draw mind-maps with the scribble.app while you are reading an ebook the same time.

the black pearl flavor from artaTech got currently the better Inova TTS and a smarter dictionary lookup with a double click on a word while using a different toolset, but non Multitasking-manager. the black pearl got a locked firmware.

the descision is yours.
