Kbahd260--I'd be interested to know why you decided to buy an eink reader rather than a tablet of some kind. I'm not meaning to be obnoxious, but it looks like you have so many things you wish to do that are better suited to another kind of device.

The Aura HD does have a browser, but it is fairly rudimentary. I use it to download books from Calibre server, but not much else. I find either my phone, tablet, or computer are never all that far away from me and all of them have much better browsers. YMMV.

I do understand that the Kobo devices are fun to hack. At an earlier point in my life, I'd probably have bought one just for that

Fun, yes, but that is one of the things I like best about the Kobo, I don't have to hack it to display books the way I want! And collections.

i was, kind of, in a rush but mainly bought it because of it's big screen and battery capacity..

and of course to use it to read and only for that far from any other distractions
but i was really disapointed with the sluggishness of the annotation feature :/

this is why i am interested in other ways of reading softwares or ways besides kobo integrated reader,
as for image reading i am aware of .cbz capability..
so how do you access internet with an aura HD ?
are there any other readers besides coolreader and koreader ?

but i now know that i should have bought an android tablet though it's battery capacity is an unkown parameter to me ..
for now i just want to boost the aura hd's usefulness

If you want to use the Aura HD to access the internet, I'm afraid you will be in for more disappointment. That is definitely not a strong point of the HD - or any other eink reader to be honest.

There are a number of readers and Menu/launcher programs that run on the AuraHD, right along with the software Kobo provides. You mentioned both Coolreader and KOreader , (a guide to adding them and several utilities)

You can add them without harming your existing Kobo setup.

There is also an "Interactive Fiction" Frontz program "QTFrotz" That is a reader of sorts.

Both Coolreader and KOreader have a longer list of file types that they can read, (I have a bunch of .pdb ebooks that both can read) KOreader reads PDF and cbz/cbr files well (I have used that feature to view .jpg images)

You lose nothing by comparing Kobo's PDF rendering with KOreader's.

You should check out the "Developer's Corner", as well.

Luck;
Ken
