Back up bookmarks?
From the FAQ's about the Sony to Kobo transfer:
What will happen to my highlights and mark-ups in my eBooks from Reader Store? (Top) Highlights, bookmarks and annotations you made in your Reader Store eBooks will not be available after you transfer your library to Kobo. You can create new notes, highlights and bookmarks in the Kobo reading experience. See also: How do I back up my annotations? I don't have any highlighting or annotations in my books, but I do have a lot of bookmarks. Does anybody know if the following procedure, as outlined on the Sony site, will back up bookmarks as well as annotations? and if so, will I be able to reimport them to my books after the Sony/Kobo transfer? How do I back up my annotations? 1. In Reader for PC/MAC®, open a book with annotations by double clicking. 2. Click the 'Export annotations to a RTF file' icon located at the bottom right of the application. The icon is the fifth one from the right. 3. Select the location and name your file, then click 'Save'. Please note the character limit for exporting with DRM protected books is 100. |

I don't recall it noting bookmarks in the RTF files. Just highlights and notes. I would try a test case and find out.

Hopefully I'll have some time to try that out this weekend.
I have some books that I am likely to reread where I have bookmarked several favorite passages - hate to have to start over. |

bookmarks are stored in books.db on the reader
note also the Sony solution is one-way - you can put annotations into RTF but you cannot reverse the process and add them back into books |

Thanks, cybmole. Looks like there's not much point in trying the export, then. The only thing I can think of is to open each book, write down on paper the page numbers I had bookmarked, and then manually bookmark them all again after the transfer.... ugh
