Annotations: Which folder are they stored in on Windows?
Hi all, I've been tearing my hair out trying to get this working.
I want to make my Windows 8 PC the only PC I use to sync with the PRS-T2 to avoid confusion later on. I found a group of files on my Mac that end with the extension .annot and I assume these are the annotations I've made on the PRS-T2. However, I don't know where these .annot files are stored on Windows 8. I tried using 'Search' but nothing came up. There are also a bunch of files that end with '.note'. I can see these on the Windows 8 machine. Are these the annotations I've made on the PRS-T2? Someone please help me! |

The .annot files were stored in the 'Digital Editions' folder on the Mac for some reason.
I still can't find them on the Windows machine.... |

Alright, I've got my e-books transferred to the Windows 8 machine using a USB drive. However, I don't know how to "import" my annotations.
Could someone please help me? |

When I copied all of my .note files from the USB stick to the Win8 'Reader' folder my annotations weren't carried over.
I'm just going to leave the PRS-T2 until someone helps me because I might make things worse. Could someone please help me? I just want to take all of my annotations from the Mac to the Win8 machine. |

Sorry! I don't have any advice for you since I have no experience with the Sony software in Windows. I don't recall seeing any posts on this subject before. Hopefully someone will answer soon. Good luck!

They are probably in a database in your app data folder & are probably very difficult to extract. why not send to evernotes - that is Sony's built-in "solution" for what you need./ once they are in evernotes they are much easier to manipulate.
C:\Users\.........\AppData\Local\Sony Corporation\Reader\Database in sony-speak - the .notes stuff are files you create with the separate notes app on the reader, not markups that you add to the books Last edited by cybmole; 02-08-2014 at 02:05 AM. |

duh - asked and answered -
where I said - app data...database folder. anything that is associated with a specific book goes in there, but your only chance of a successful import is if sony reader for PC supports it, when it syncs. one data base for ALL books so if gets gets corrupted you lose everything - great design ![]() anything that is independent of any specific books, like a drawing or an image, is stored more obviously ps there is also a books.db folder on the reader. almost certainly your annotations ON THE READER are in there. you can test/prove that be removing it, rebooting reader, checking what's happened; then replace it & reboot again & hopefully you stuff comes back again but really, you need to research evernotes - that is the robust solution and support is built-in to the T2 Last edited by cybmole; 02-08-2014 at 06:38 AM. |

I believe that he already has a workflow using Evernote which has been discussed in other posts. The question here is how to get his new installation on Windows 8 to match his Mac. I'm hesitant to suggest just copy the .db from his application library folder on his Mac over to the equivalent PC folder as there are probably other files that would need to be copied too. Plus there is the issue of the differences going from Mac OS to Windows.

If it were anyone but Sony I'd say ask the guys who wrote the reade software, but Sony customer support have a bad rep for not knowing their own products! if it can be done, it will be using the T2 as the common interface. so sync Mac to T2, then T2 to PC or vice versa without over-thinking what goes on under-the-bonnet. iIt could be that you have to copy the books & hope that the annotations travel with the books each time. |

Your last paragraph is the only way that I can envision doing it too. It just seems there ought to be a better way.

Right, Sony's Mac software keeps crashing, even after I've re-installed it so I just want to use the Windows8 machine ONLY so that it's simpler for me to manage. |
