Vid player ?

Is there a vid player for android that supports "bookmarking".. I never have time to watch a vid right through.. want to be able to resume watching TIA

MX Player, which is one of the best video players, has a Resume/Restart option which lets you chose if you want to resume where you last stopped the video or if you want to go back to the beginning. Not exactly bookmarking, but close enough.

diceplayer is free and better than mx player pro, I've never understood why people keep recommending that one they do it everywhere but it's not a good player at all it often can't play sound in files and breaks completely every time there is even a minor Android update.

Only two I'd recommend are diceplayer and Samsung's default one, neither have bookmarks but do resume where you left off in a file.

Never tried diceplayer, but nothing that you said about MXplayer has ever showed up on my watch. I use it almost every day and it plays everything that I have ever thrown at it. Mxplayer is the primary player on my Android based home theater setup.

I often come across files mxplayer chokes on unless you switch it to software decoding and restart it several times (it doesn't take until you do), yet diceplayer and the default Samsung player handle the same files perfectly fine. I also see mxplayer occasionally mess up the audio sync, framedrop and other things that it doesn't even have the option to correct.

It's also coded to purposefully not work anytime Android updates for no real reason while all the other players keep working and sometimes takes days of it not working at all before an update to fix it is released.

To be honest I bought MxPlayer pro on the advice of everyone claiming how good it was and it's actually the worst one I've ever used on a mobile device, no audio correction, no pop up play, bad performance all round, I'd go as far to say that it's the worst app I've ever bought.

Actually, you are just repeating yourself. You have already made it clear that it is an app that you really hate. The facts are that MX player rates 4.5 out of 5 on the Play store with over 50 million installs, while Diceplayer also rates 4.5 out of 5 on the Play store with less than 5 million installs. So they are both good and you just happen to like Diceplayer better.

Simple fact is MX Player charges you for less, dice is completely free and has more options doesn't take a genius to figure which is better.

I guess that it must take a genius, since I quoted the statistics for the free version of both apps. The statistics for MX Player Pro (the paid version) shows fewer installs, but an even higher satisfaction rating.

Free version of MX Players spams you with " you have a virus" adverts which is a breach of Google Play rules, free version of diceplayer has no ad's at all.

Seems like many people get emotionally attached to software, and video player software in particular. I've seen this behavior over the years and I still don't get it.

I also recommend MX Player. I've installed it on numerous Android devices, including those without a "proper" version of Android, like the nook tablets, kindle Fire, and KFHD. I have never experienced any of the issues that Teknikal experienced. I won't claim that he didn't experience what he said he did, but it is the absolute opposite of my experience.

What I've found is that video formats, resolution, bitrates, etc. have a great deal to do with the quality of experience on devices. Far too many people use completely "jacked up" parameters when they encode their own videos. And many others go to questionable places to download videos where the encoding details are suspect.

Properly encoded videos keep file sizes to a minimum, picture quality that is relative to the screen size, and keep processor usage in an acceptable range so that battery life is not adversely affected.

I've used both and MX Player just handles my anime fansubs better (particularly karaoke-style subs). Sure, 10-bit h.264 is a no-go but I'm okay with that limitation.

I'm using MX Player and I'm happy with it.

I tried VX Player and Mobo Player, but didn't really like either one of them. Then I tried MX player and that has worked well for me, so I stopped looking.

I have found that both diceplayer and mxplayer has problems sometimes. So I have both. Usually I try first with mxplayer, and if that has problems, then I try diceplayer. And if that has problems I try VLC, or give up...
