Kobo Glo and publisher's styles

Hello all,

I had a chance to test out Kobo Glo from my co-worker and I noticed that there was nothing I could do to font or margin settings.

Is this because these are set in the CSS of the EPUB file? If so, is there any way to ignore the given styles and let Kobo Glo set them up based on the settings?

Correct - it's a CSS issue.

To remove use Calibre to convert epub to epub and use the filters to remove fonts & margins. The new epub should allow font and margin setting changes

Can anyone explain why that is?

I'm totally used to removing fonts from my epubs, but how come Kobo doesn't at least have the option to override css?

Well, they do have options to override the CSS. That's what the font, line spacing and and margins settings do. And if you are reading kepubs, there is a user style file that will override them.

But, I think the real reason they don't have more than this is that it will break to many books. Or not do what is expected. To do it properly, you need to understand how the book was constructed. Otherwise, you make a change and loose information. Plus there are other ways to do this.
