Missed Names
I really like the Deep View but sometimes it misses names. How can I add them?
Thanks |

When you first run deep view it starts out showing you the names in the current chapter. If you tap the menu at the bottom of the screen, you can switch it to all names in book. Then if you really want to get meticulous, you can merge instances of First Name Last Name with First Name. |

Okay, I hoped it was just that you didn't know about changing the name list to all in book. I don't know if you can add names. Hopefully Kris will pop in and be able to answer that for you.

If a name has been missed by Deep View it cannot be added. Adding a name involves complex things like detecting all sentence references in the book, etc... so every manual addition would require a full rescan of the book. Deep View is designed to have high recall (bias towards a false +ve) to avoid missing names but sometimes this happens.
Can you give me an example of a name that's been missed? |

In the book Summer Fling by Mari Carr the name Georgia Hollister (and Grandma Hollister, which is the same person) was missed. This isn't the only example but it is the only one I can find at the moment.
As for adding, why couldn't a search be done and then have the software ask if you would like to add it to deep view? While we are talking about Deep View. A couple of things: Could you add a feature that would lightly highlight (maybe in gray so as not to be distracting) anything that has been included in deep view. You could actually do it in 2 tone, a light gray for anything in deep view and a slightly darker gray for anything in deep view that has been flagged or has a note. Also something I have noticed that is frustrating is that when you merge two names it deletes any notes and flags. Why doesn't it keep them or at least ask if you want to keep them? Thanks for your help Kris |

That name should have been detected. Would it be possible for you to email me at support@marvinapp.com about this?
I've tried several highlighting options when i was working on DPV. In many cases, I found that even lightly coloured highlighting turned out to be ver distracting plus there's the overhead of scanning through each chapter on load to detect and highlight names. This was causing book loads to take a bit longer than I wanted. You're right about the merging - IRC it is already logged in as a bug. I'll get to it soon. |

Fair enough with the highlighting. Would you considering adding it as part of the search. So if you do a search where you have the "up" "down" and "email" add "highlight all" with an option to choose your highlight color.
On other request I have. I know you have a few option for the display at the bottom of page to show where you are at in the book but the simplest option "page 27 of 423" isn't one of them. It is something I really like having and miss since switching to Marvin. T |

I'll look into it.
I'm also investigating the option of having global page numbering. |
