does book size correlate with battery usage?

I picked up from Amazon a copy of the Complete Works of Andrew Lang. There's a warning at the top of the Amazon page for this book that, due to its size, downloading will take longer. It's 47919 KB.

I've been reading this book since November (and I'm only at 52% even now) and it has seemed to me I have to recharge my Paperwhite more frequently when I'm reading this book than when I'm reading an equivalent number of more normal-sized books.

My husband says that, due to the nature of flash memory, he doen't see how there can be a correlation between the size of this book and the frequency of recharging.

Who is right? Will a book of this size use up more battery power faster than normal sized books?

Thank you for settling this question!

Can't settle it, but I have read of others experiencing the same thing. Perhaps the opening of a book that is large consumes more battery. Non reading processing like indexing seems to use a lot more battery than reading in my experience.

There are a couple of things you could check:
- is it indexing anything: from home screen, search for '.' (period). If it is indexing anything, you'll see an item to that effect. Tap on that to see what it is working on. Sometimes there is a corrupt item and indexing cannot complete, and drains battery trying. Solution is to remove any item it is stuck on and get a fresh copy.
- check the size of 'My Clippings' (open it and see how many locations there are). If you make a lot of highlights bookmarks etc. it gets larger and it takes longer to reindex it each time something is added, draining the battery etc. Solution is to delete My Clippings so it can start fresh (after backing it up to your computer if desired).

I don't think the size of individual items has any effect on battery drain (once initial indexing completes).
