What is the column ids for?

Hello

I am wondering what the column ids is for.

Is it an important column? Can it be delated?

Cheers

You shouldn't see this as a column, though it is a metadata field. It cannot be deleted, as it is a built-in.

It's purpose is for storing info such as the isbn of a book, as well as urls that are associalted with the book and special links to bookstores that may have sold you the book, etc. It shouldn't show up in the Book details unless the book actually has an id with a clickable link, and you can right-click on it in the Tag Browser (it's called Identifiers there) to "Hide category Identifiers". (You can also do the same to "Hide column Identifiers" -- if there had been such a column)

Insanely important.

Id is the (tie break) link between the Title folder in the library

author/book title (42)/ book
author/book title (128)/ book

You can have 2 variations (under certain settings) of the same title

There is no ID column in the GUI
There are references to it in various details

Read the FAQ about NOT messing with the structure of the library

Very true, that is another field it's best not to confuse. Although I believe the OP was asking about the identifiers column (ids) I probably should've mentioned the id column as well.
