stumblebum question 2: AZW3 to MOBI conversion
I sent a book to my brother via email from Calibre today. I realize that is not exactly earthshaking news, but it gave rise in my little pea-picking brain a question.

The question is why was it Calibre had to convert the AZW3 to MOBI before it would it send the book? Is it because of compression? Other reason? Just wanted to know.

Probably you should check the definition for your brother in the email settings to see what formats you have defined as being valid for him.

It is probably because you have not got azw3 set as one of the formats that can be sent via email. In such a situation Calibre will convert the book to the top ranked format before sending it.
