Converting replaces ellipsis with line breaks

I'm converting from a .txt file and have tried converting to .mobi and .azw3. Both ellipsis (…) and three periods (...) are being replaced with line breaks. Any ideas about fixing this?

Specify the text format as plain under txt input in the conversion dialog.
