Best Background for Reading on a Tablet?

My Kobo Glo has died and I'm not going to look in to it till the new year. So I thought I would try reading on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.

Are there any ereader app better for reading or are they all a much of a muchness? Is white background or sepia background better for reading?

I recommend Moon+ Pro, which may be on sale right now for $2.50. It has a variety of backgrounds available, I like a nice plain off white. You can also add your own. In another thread here someone posted a canvas texture, and I have been using that ever since. It's a nice off white.

Mantano reader lets you make your own colour palette I use a very light blue background although change it now and again just to mix it up.

Most reader apps have a few choices including sepia, white and usually a night theme or two before spending any money try Play books out it's lacking options but works ok.

I use Cool Reader and FBreader which both have a Sepia/Old paper option which I find very comfortable to read with. Even better, they both handle ePub and Mobi with no problem.

I love Moonreader; very customisable yet not slow or bloated.
Background depends on technology; my Samsung Note 1 has an OLED screen, blacks are really black. A black background with white letters (very very slightly less green, very slightly less blue) looks the most pleasant there. But on my ipad air, that has a IPS screen, kind of LCD, I prefer eggbrown background and black letters ( using Marvin).

I go for sepia or off-white most of the time. I know some people swear by white on black, but I just can't handle that.

Yep.... with my Kindle Fire i use the tan/creme background and black. I can't stand the reversed white on black and despite what the boring guy above says

the black on white is too stark...

Ha! Unlike the monkey I've never been able to 'read' by ear. I suppose if I did a lot of driving in the car I might get used to it, but the times I've tried, it just didn't work for me.

I don't listen while driving! My speed would increase when at exciting parts & creep on slow LOL To me it like listening to old tyme radio!
