So no control group? Maybe it is not being absorbed in the book that caused the effect, just reading the same page over and over might do it, or perhaps just turning the pages and not reading at all. Without a control group there is no way to tell.

I suspect watching the Face Off episode of Breaking Bad would stimulate similarly. My heartbeat was accelerated for a couple days afterwards.

I have, (probably all of us have) read stories on sports coaches using a mental imagining/practice technique and I think it has validity. But the practitioners have a goal n mind and it requires specific effort.

If a general osmosis approach worked, I would be able to track down criminals, perform magic, be slim and fit, and would have been able to leap tall buildings in a single bound many years ago
