Greetings, I am trying to reconvert an AZW3 file to another AZW3 file to update the metadata before I put it onto my Kindle. The problem I am having is the conversion process seems to hang at the "Flattening CSS and remapping font sizes step" This hang happens no matter what format I try to convert to. I have tried both 64bit and 32bit versions of the software, changing the file type to AWZ and Mobi with the same result. I am using version 1.18 for Windows. Any help with this project is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Last edited by linesma; 01-07-2014 at 11:33 AM. Reason: Problem caused by user error..... |

I believe that I was able to figure out what was going wrong, and completed the conversion successfully. No errors were showing in any of the debug logs, so I decided to experiment with some conversion settings. Calibre seemed to be having a problem with rescaling the fonts on the input file. I disabled the font rescaling option in the "look and feel" section, and the conversion went fine. It did take about 30 minutes to complete. Since I have not had this problem before, it leads me to believe that my input file had issues. Thanks! |

Just wait, your conversion will complete. For some pathological books with lots of redundant css, the conversion can take a while.

Thanks for your reply and the information. I really do appreciate it. Also, thank you for developing and maintaining Calibre. It has become my "go to" software for managing ebooks since I started using it in 2009.

FWIW, if you just want to update the metadata, you shouldn't need to reconvert. Just send and calibre will update the metadata on the fly, doing minimal changes to just edit the metadata fields.

@linesma You can use the Polish Books feature to update the AZW3 metadata in situ. Its a fairly recent enhancement to the core product, so you may need to add it to your toolbars, menu's etc - or simply select a book (or books) in the library list and press 'P' BR |
