Hello community,
I'm user of Sky driver Microsoft. My reading device is a Kindle and usually manage my library in my HP Ultrabook(using Win 8 64b) but I have another Windows OS x86(using 64 bit architecture) and uses both frequently. I was deep in my thoughts to create a way to use my Sky Drive to install the Calibre, so: It's possible use a Storage on clouds (iCloud, Google Drive, Skydrive, dropbox, box.net) for sync/backup my library data to my Desktops/Laptops? So this way I'll always synced my library in both machines. Usually I'm in the same network wifi. How can I make backup my Calibre program? (may be a link of old post) Someone plz? Rafa. ![]() ![]() |

See here for details: WARNING - Google Drive Incompatible with Calibre!
Other than that, any cloud storage service should work just fine. Just do as theducks says and mark your Library folder to be synced -- or add to the sync folder, as the case may be. That way, all your books will be synced. You could sync a copy of your library folder instead, but it's probably not necessary and updating the backup could be a hassle. It is unnecessary to backup the actual program files -- you might as well backup all your other programs too, and then there will be no end to the trouble. Just update calibre whenever you need to. Even though a new version IS released every single Friday (usually) you don't actually have to upgrade. It is mostly bugfixes and most people don't bother until they need a new feature or to fix a bug they have. You could of course install it via the command line and set a weekly task to do so if you really want to have the bleeding edge of calibre. |

If you backup program files (ANY windows PROGRAM): You need to backup the Instaler (usually dotMSI) so it can be installed on a new system. Restore (from backup) only works if a file gets corrupted, not if the registry and supporting pieces get trashed.

Imported books
Hello fellows,
Thanks for your fast replies. My library is already synced by Sky Drive, but here is the deal: How can I sync the imported books from my kindle device? I constantly buy books through my kindle and Amazon website, I usually import to my ultrabook but I would like to open this books in my desktop. Where is this imported books? In program files folder? |

Any books imported into calibre from your Kindle are in your library like any other books. You must give calibre access to those books, though, to import them, so it will not be automatic. What you CAN do, is tell calibre, in Preferences ==> Import/Export ==> Adding Books, in the Automatic Adding tab, to watch your Kindle for PC folder and automatically add all books from there. Then just download all books to Kindle for PC and they will be added. Or whenever you buy books, select deliver to K4PC.
You can also just add all the books that are not already in calibre when you plug in your Kindle. It is easy to tell which those are, since calibre will match all books as on device. |

Yes, it will delete all ebooks that are automatically added. That is so it doesn't add the same file millions of times. If you just use K4PC to download new books, that shouldn't be a problem.
calibre will not automatically add from your kindle unless you chose your kindle as the folder to be automatically added. DRM messages should still add the book, just the book will be DRM'ed are you SURE the book isn't there despite the message? DRM is a separate issue, and if your books are DRM'ed then having them in calibre will pretty much do you nothing anyway, My advice is (if you haven't already) to google apprentice alf. And installing older versions of calibre will not help you do things calibre was never meant, designed, or given the capability to do. |

I have not sure about the DRM alerts, but some books that I actually bought have no DRM lock, may be it's my misunderstood.
I found through explorer a folder in my *\users\My_user_nam\Documents\Calibre Library And all books added are there. Folders are sorted by Author name and inside follow books. It's this folder that I talk about, did you know how can change in preferences to copy this folder to my Sky Driver folder? |

In screenshot one you see how to manage libraries. First option, highlighted, will open up the popup in the second screenshot. Highlighted option will move the Calibre Library folder and record the change in calibre's settings.
