Sigil don't open
First sorry for my bad english, it is not my first language.
So, I was using sigil 0.7.4 normally until I had the brilliant idea of installing the dictionary in my language (pt_br) but something went wrong and sigil kept crashing so I decided to uninstall, re-install and forget about the dictionary, but after I did it, sigil wont open. I saw somewhere on the forum that you have to delete remaining "traces" so I downloaded a program (revouninstaller) to uninstall sigil. After that all the times I tried installing sigil it would get through all installation steps, create the folders and icon and all but it doesn't open any epub file. I tried installing sigil 0.7.3, tried to reboot, tried to open as administrator, nothing works. The only option I have left is formatting my computer but it would be a pain to install everything again... And if I can get it working again I wont even try installing the dictionary again I'm using windows 7 x86, the currently installed version of sigil is 0.7.4 and I don't know if it interferes with anything but I have calibre and adobe digital editions installed as well. all the other programs are working fine and like I said previously sigil doesn't crash, it simply don't open at all. Have anyone faced this problem? does anyone know what else I could do? (sorry if I broke any forum rule, I just registered) Last edited by winky8; 12-11-2013 at 03:56 PM. |

edit: I just deleted both files and Sigil stil don't open. Should I try install another version again or reboot the computer or something? Last edited by winky8; 12-11-2013 at 04:16 PM. |

whenever I uninstall it (via revouninstalller or sigil uninstaller) theres no sigil folder left, hidden or otherwise...
As for the dictionary file, if you mean the ones I tried to add, they were deleted yesterday on one of my uninstalls you want me to uninstall it all, then install it again then delete the .ini file? sorry if Im not making sense and than you so much for trying to help!! |

In my case, sigil.ini is located in
Mike/AppData/local/sigil-ebook/sigil I hope that will help you locate the file sigil.ini in yours, assuming you are using Windows. |

mike it really helped! I located it and deleted it. Sigil now opens normally.
Thank you very much mike and ducks. ![]() ![]() By any chance, do you guys know why it wasn't opening? (also, what do I do with this thread now? do I close it or the admin take care of it? )

Why did search NOT find the second Sigil.ini file The first one was probably from Sigil 5 or so. It later moved. |

The ini file got corrupted, so important information was not where it was expected. Very weird inexplicable things happen, like a dictionary that can not be corrected, etc, when this file is corrupted. The only shortcoming of deleting it is that some of your settings will need to be re-entered. It is rebuilt by Sigil when it is entirely missing.
The thread stays on this forum so when someone has a similar problem they can take a look at it and fix it without having to post a new question and wait for an answer. |
