Replace All confirmation, anyone?

Hi all,

I've used sigil for some time now and it happened to me more than once to lose all my work after accidentally hitting Replace All.

Shouldn't such a potentially destructive and irreversible function require some sort of confirmation? Especially when the tiny button is surrounded by other buttons? Where can I ask the author about it?

Thanx

You can always abort (discard) the edit session when things go south (and they frequently do for me ). Frequent SAVES of last good milestone just before

Sigil is not being developed further.

Calibre is in process of adding a Sigil like editor: Tweak.
The button is part of the Search and replace package.
The button is also unencumbered there. Get a cat to help you with you out of control mouse problem

I fail to see what the problem is. If you've mistakenly selected Replace All, you can always press CTRL+Z to undo Replace All and/or simply close the .ePub file without saving it.

BTW, Sigil saves edited versions of the epub file in the Temp folder:

C:\Users\User_Name\AppData\Local\Temp\Sigil\scratchpad (User_Name is your user name)

You might be able to locate earlier versions of your ePub in one of the sub-folders there.
(To display the temp folder, press +R, enter %temp% and click OK.)

The calibre editor is currently available as a beta, and usable via the command line:
Code:
calibre-debug -t /path/to/file
It offers global undo, which will undo Replace All (something Sigil emphatically does NOT do, @Doitsu):

Not to mention that it works for both azw3 and epub2.
and has already duplicated much of Sigil's functionality, to the point where Kovid has said:

I have never used Sigil myself, but I think the major bits that are missing are spell check, clips, error checking and a book view editor (which likely will never get implemented)
Kovid is also actively maintaining all parts of calibre, unlike Sigil which currently has only a project manager, but no one interested in actively developing.

You can also find the betas here: http://download.calibre-ebook.com/betas/

In it, tweak ebook from the calibre library has been set to use the new editor by default.
