Question Is there really no SDK for eReaders out there? Other ideas?

Hello Folks,

I am currently working for a big telco. Our researches recently have developed a new content aggregation software that they want to implement on attractive eReader devices.

Now, the problem is that we cannot find an appropriate eReader device which allows us to install our software. Have you heard of any SDK platform or do you have another idea?

Aiko

I assume you mean ebook readers in general, and not the specific format eReader.

There is no ebook reader with an available SDK other than the Iliad. I would suggest you look at one of Nokia's Internet Tablets, the N800 or N810. They run Linux, are stable, and have a SDK available.

And of course you can always go straight to PVI and have them build you your own. Astak might be interested too.

If you are interesting in partnering with an E-Ink device, then the Astak Mentor will run WinCE and they have a SDK.

Is this actually going to run on the device? If not, then FeedBooks is a good example of a server-based delivery system that targets multiple ebook formats. They also have custom client software for the iLiad and various techniques for a client to access content. For example, on some devices a web link in a MobiPocket ebook can be used to download a new ebook.

You can download the SDK for Hanlin(Lbook) V3: http://www.jinke.com.cn/Compagesql/E...evelop/sdk.asp

Note that those kits start at $3000 each and would require a case. Makes a tablet PC seem pretty economical by comparison.

OpenInkpot approaches the status of "have SDK", can be installed on Hanlin V3, and port to Bookeen is underway.
